Heavy Police Presence as Protesters Gather in Lagos for June 12 Democracy Day

A significant number of police officers, including operatives from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area F Division, were deployed to the Ikeja Underbridge in Lagos on Thursday morning, as demonstrators began to assemble in commemoration of June 12 Democracy Day.

The protest, organized by civil society groups and pro-democracy activists, aims to voice growing public frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions and rising insecurity under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Although the demonstration had not officially begun as of the morning, security personnel maintained a high level of vigilance in anticipation of potential unrest.
