Osun Decides 2026: Tension Rises as INEC Uploads Over 80% of Results to IReV Portal
Electronic collation is currently underway for the Osun State Governorship Election, following the close of polls across the state.
As of 7:45 PM, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded 3,029 polling unit results (80.49%) out of the expected 3,763 units to its IReV Results Viewing Portal. The official Osun State Collation Centre in Osogbo is fully set up as officials prepare to compile final returns from the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

While official final results are pending, high-profile polling units have concluded their counts:
- Abogunde Compound, Ede North (Ward 02, PU 009): Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party) comfortably secured his own polling unit with 421 votes.
- Ilesa East LGA Unit: The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, recorded a landslide victory at the polling unit of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, routing Accord 256 votes to 43.
Next Steps & Legal Hurdles
To be declared the official winner, a candidate must secure the highest number of total valid votes and clear a constitutional spread of at least 25% of the votes in two-thirds (20 out of 30) of Osun’s LGAs. If no single candidate crosses this bar, INEC will mandate a rerun election within the legally prescribed window.
