The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has urged students to return to the campus and assured of the provision of maximum security by the school management.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that The Polytechnic Ibadan had recently witnessed several shooting incidents on the campus which led to the ‘stay away from the campus’ order by the SUG.
A statement issued by SUG President, Adedeji Abdulazeez, implored students to resume to class from Monday, April 11, 2022.
“In lieu with the meeting held with the school management on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the students’ leaders of the institution requested for a lasting solution to the insecurity issues on campus which led to the stay-at-home advice to our students.
“The Union is very glad to inform the student populace that the management has granted our request on the insecurity issues on campus by providing an external security unit which includes: State CID, DSS, Amotekun and Operation Burst.
“We say a very big thanks and kudos to the management for taking the welfare of our students as a priority,” he said.
Abdulazeez admonished the student populace to resume for their academic activities with immediate effect as lectures would commence fully on Monday.
He, however, highlighted some requirements that students were expected to adhere to while on campus.
” Over-speeding within the institution isn’t allowed. Indecent dressing won’t be allowed within the institution.
