Seun Kuti, popular Nigerian singer who was recently detained following an altercation with a police officer, has now been handcuffed and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at Panti for further investigation over an alleged assault on a police officer on Saturday.
In the video shared by Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress via his verified Twitter handle, Kuti was seen being led away in handcuffs.
Usman Alkali Baba, Inspector-General of Police, had ordered Kuti’s arrest following his altercation with a police officer on the 3rd Mainland Bridge, Lagos on Saturday.
Kuti has said in an Instagram post that he was ready to work with the police on the matter.
“I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.” he wrote on Instagram.
