The Oyo State Police Command has said it would not rest on its oars until those who killed Modupe Abubakar in a September 20 shooting incident at Afiniyanu Area, Ologuneru, Ibadan, are apprehended.
The command also said preliminary investigations into the incident have shown that the victim was shot in the neck by her assailants while returning home.
Recall that gunmen on a motorcycle, Tuesday evening, around Providence Estate, Afin Iyanu, off Eleyele-Ologuneru-Ido road, Ibadan, cornered a middle-aged woman in her car and shot her three times before escaping the scene.
It noted that only the deceased’s mobile phone was missing from her white Toyota Venza vehicle with registration number AKD 439GB and that no other life was lost in the incident, contrary to reports from agents of mischief.
The Police Public Relations Office, Police State Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement signed by its PPRO, SP Adewale Osifeso, on Thursday.
Part of the statement titled Re: Afiniyanu shooting incident read: ”Preliminary Investigations into the incident has revealed that the victim, Late Modupe Abubakar ‘F’ Aged 60, was returning home at sunset and had left the major Ologuneru Road veering into the street leading into her home via Afiniyanu Area, Ologuneru, Ibadan under Ibadan North-West LGA when she was shot on the neck by her assailants.
”A cursory check at the scene of crime reveals by a team of Police Detectives and Forensic experts attached to the Command reveals that only the deceased’s Mobile Phone was missing from her White Toyota Venza Vehicle with Registration Number AKD 439GB.
”More updates into the investigation would be unveiled in due course as a strategic and coordinated security intervention with sister agencies has been initiated with regards to preventing a recurrence”.
It further appealed to residents to reach out to the police and other emergency medical responders in emergency cases, especially when the victim is battling with life, rather than recording and uploading on social media.
