As the internal crisis in the Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party lingers, the leader of the party in the state House of Assembly, Mr Rasheed Elegbeleye has cried out that some people were allegedly planted by the All Progressives Congress to destroy the PDP in his constituency.
Elegbeleye, who lost the House of Assembly primary election in his constituency – the Akoko North-East Constituency, to another chieftain of the party, Mr Olanrewaju Akintola, approached the Federal High Court to challenge the outcome of the primary.
He alleged that the delegates list used for the primary election, held in May this year, was doctored.
In a statement he personally issued on Sunday, the minority leader knocked some of his detractors in the party who were making comments on social media, saying they were APC agents in PDP.
The lawmaker, who said he had impacted the lives of his constituents through various empowerment programmes, said some agents of the APC in the constituency, causing trouble in the PDP.
Elegbeleye said, “I don’t need to be joining issues with social media politicians than to be focused on my good planning for my people which I have been fulfilling.
“My achievement is what is intimidating my opponents and that is why they can not come out openly and campaign but instead they will rush to Abuja and meet the ruling party (APC) leader to be sponsoring them always against me.
“A person who never won his ward or unit for PDP will come out and call himself a leader on the social media, the people we all know as political harlots in our local government and state.
“The PDP has no candidate for House of Assembly as of today in Akoko North- East but they can be deceiving themselves on social media. After the primary election, they should come out and tell the world if the opposition has held a single meeting in the local government.
“They worked against all PDP candidates in 2019 and today they stay in PDP and are finishing the party with the state leader of the party.”
He insisted that currently, the party has no candidate in the constituency until the outcome of the court, noting that anyone claiming to be the candidate of the party was deceiving himself.
