As part of the corps mandate to save lives and property, FRSC patrol operatives working on Ikorodu -Sagamu road was approached by a woman, Mrs Abidoye, otherwise known as Iya Esther on the 6th of November, 2023 and narrated that, while she was on a bike ride, her purse fell down and it contained the sum of N121.500.00, a mobile phone and other valuables.
Upon the discovery that her purse was no longer with her, she quickly retraced her steps and where she assumed the purse could have fallen. A passersby told her that a tipper lorry driver pulled over to pick something unknown to them on the floor, and advised her look out for a red tipper.
She sighted FRSC operatives at Ikorodu-sagamu road, approached them, reported the incident and described the tipper lorry, with emphasis on the colour
The team leader, ARC H.A. LAWAL charged his men to watch out for a red tipper on their beat. After a few hours, a red tipper was advancing towards the team patrol point and substantial effort was made to pull the tipper over, the arresting marshal demanded for his ( the tipper driver) drivers license, while trying to bring it out, the arresting marshal noticed that the driver was trying to properly keep something, and boldly asked what he was keeping, the driver replied nothing, other members of the team approached the driver and found a purse behind his seat, the operative tactical dispossessed the the driver of the purse.
The vehicle was impounded, the driver and motor boy were invited to the command for further investigation.
The driver admitted to have taken the purse on the floor but he has misplaced the SIM in the phone. And on the 14th of December 14, the tipper driver claimed he found the SIM somewhere in his truck and brought it to the office.
The command UTH OOPS, CRC EO ADEWOYE, inserted the SIM into one a phone and called the woman’s pastor who alerted the woman to come to FRSC Ikorodu office to claim ownership of her money, purse and phone.
At about 1625HRS, the woman came with some of her family members, they were interrogated by the Unit Commander, Assistant Corp Commander J.O. BALOGUN who formally handed over all her lost items to her as captured above.
The woman expressed her happiness and appreciation to the command for the efforts made to recover her lost items, and prayed for every member of the corps.
