The Labour Party (LP), has enjoined members of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) to evolve all possible ways to fund campaigns as the 2023 general elections draw nearer.
Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the party, while inaugurating the LP Presidential Campaign Council on Friday in Abuja, noted that prosecuting the presidential election in Nigeria was not an easy project and advised members of the Council to work towards mobilizing funds for the success of the party.
To enthrone good leadership in the country, Abure appealed to members of the party, members of the campaign and well-meaning Nigerians who are interested to join hands with the party.
He noted that even though the party does not give “shishi”, it does not mean that it does not need money to prosecute its campaign successfully for the overall interests and benefits of Nigerians.
The National Chairman of the party said, “The party is in serious need of funding required to prosecute the elections.”
He said the presidential election is expensive in the country and competing against the main parties is not easy with resources in their hands and their readiness to deploy them in the election, saying it was not going to be an easy task for the Labour party.
He acknowledged that the task ahead of the party is enormous, but expressed delight that Nigerians have realized they need to take back their country as the massive support and followership enjoyed in recent times shows the people are ready and determined to take back their country.
He reiterated that the party needs a lot of funding to drive the process, as the presidential candidate cannot do it alone.
Mohammed Zarewa, the Chairman of PCC, in his acceptance speech expressed optimism that members of the party would do everything possible to deliver Nigeria to the Labour Party candidates.
The Director General of the campaign council, Doyin Okupe, appealed to members of the campaign Council to take their assignments seriously and work hard to deliver their various constituencies towards the success of the party in the country.
He assured that they would continue to make use of as many people as are willing to be of help to ensure the success of this party.
