President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday attend the investiture ceremony of Mahamat Idriss Deby in Chad.
Deby, who succeeds his late father, will be sworn in as President of the Transitional Team for two years.
The inauguration will be held at the capital, N’Djamena.
Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said the event will “further accentuate negotiations on a peaceful return to democratic process”.
The Nigerian leader is expected back in the country after the ceremony.
Former President Deby died of gunshot injuries in April 2021 after he was hit while fighting rebels in the north.
The ex-military officer had just won a sixth term after the provisional election results were declared.
