Community and religious leaders in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State have agreed to live in peace and harmony, eschewing any form of bitterness and rancour.
The leaders who made the pledge in Jos when the Christian Rural Development Associations (CRUDAN) commemorated the International Day of Peace, also agreed to push for the advancement of the state and the nation at large.
The theme of this year’s event is “End Racism; Build Peace”
In her remarks, the Executive Director of CRUDAN, Ruth Dull, said people should be cautious, intentional and sensitive to their biases so that racism and discrimination can be eschewed and everyone can be treated equally
She said people’s diversity is a form of strength and not weakness, and that individuality and differences do not have to be uniform but that there could be unity in that diversity still.
Participants at the event used the occasion to call on Nigerians to collaborate towards advancing unity, peace and tranquillity in the country.
