Manchester United Forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted on the date of his possible retirement from international football.
Ronaldo said he wants to play for Portugal at this year’s FIFA World Cup and the 2024 European Championship, adding that his road is not yet over.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who was presented with an award at a Portuguese Football Federation ceremony on Tuesday, informed the audience of his plans for the future.
“It has been a long road, but I would like to take the opportunity to say that my road is not over yet,” Ronaldo said via Goal.
“I feel motivated, my ambition is high. I am in the selection with a lot of young players and I want to be part of this World Cup and the 2024 Euros as well, I assume now.”
Ronaldo will celebrate his 38th birthday in February 2023.
The Portugal captain would be aged 39 should he play at Euro 2024.
His current contract with Man United will expire in the summer of 2023, but there is the option for an additional year, should the Red Devils and Ronaldo both agree to it.
