The Ekiti State House of Assembly during its sitting on Monday has appealed to the Federal Government to come to the aid of the state by helping to fix the bad roads in the state.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, made the passionate appeal while addressing the distinguished members of the Assembly at their sitting held today.
Reacting to a matter of urgent public importance raised by the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan at plenary in Ado Ekiti on Monday, the Speaker observed that most motorists now plied the hinterland roads to access other neighboring states and these had led to the destruction of some roads constructed by the state government.
He mentioned the Ado Ekiti to Ikere Ekiti to Akure road with the Ikere Ekiti axis in total in bad shape and called on the federal government to urgently direct its relevant agencies for adequate intervention.
The Leader of Business, Hon Aribisogan, had earlier called on the assembly to call on relevant agencies to fix the Ado- Iluomoba-Ijesa Isu road.
Hon Aribisogan, who represents Ikole Constituency I in the House, observed that motorists now suffer passing through the road, with some bad portion areas serving as haven for criminals.
