4 dead, 16 injured as bus catches fire on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Four persons have died in a lone accident involving a Mazda bus along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The fatal crash reportedly occurred around Oniworo, after the Foursquare camp, Ogun State involved 20 persons.

According to Punch, four passengers were “burnt beyond recognition while 16 others were injured and could be identified.

Florence Okpe, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command confirmed that the sad accident occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Okpe said that the lone crash involved a Mazda bus with registration number APP934XH.

 

She said, “the suspected cause of the crash was speed which led to the loss of control and the Mazda bus rammed into the median strip (road divider) and went into flames.”

She stated that those who sustained injuries have been taken to Victory hospital in Ogere.

She added that the state FRSC Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, cautioned motorists on speed violations while advising them to obey traffic rules and regulations.
