A lawyer and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for Onitsha North 2 constituency, Harold Ekwerekwu, has retracted his earlier comments over the demolition of illegal structures in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The lawyer had earlier spoken against the demolition by criticising the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s approach.
But speaking to journalists in Onitsha, on Wednesday, Ekwerekwu pledged unalloyed support and loyalty to Soludo over what he called Soludo’s mission of turning the state into a liveable and prosperous homeland.
He said Soludo had shown Ndi Anambra that he came prepared to transform the state, and that he( Soludo) deserved to be given the needed support to actualize his mission in Anambra.
Retracting some alleged bad comments he reportedly made against the governor and the Managing Director of Anambra Physical planning Agency, Chike Maduekwe, the lawyer said he made the comment at the heat of passion following the demolition of his property at the Government Reserved Area, Onitsha.
He said, ”I promise to remain a loyal apostle of the governor and to ensure that if elected to represent the good people of Onitsha North 2 constituency, I would be one of the lawmakers the governor can always count on their support for the actualisation of his administration’s mission in the state.”
Mixed reactions have trailed Soludo’s demolition exercise in Onitsha and environs in the past one month, including the demolition of part of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry in Onitsha owned by Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere also known as Odumeje.
