The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State chapter, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie, on Tuesday, declared the intention of the party to participate in the local government election scheduled to hold 30th July 2022 in the 13 LGAs of the State.
Okorie made this known while speaking with journalists at the PDP secretariat located along Abakaliki/Enugu expressway.
He vowed that the party is prepared to win the chairmanship positions in the 13 local government areas of the State.
According to him: “Pursuant to Section 6(3) of the constitution of the PDP 2017 as amended, the State Executive Council, SEC, of PDP resolves that the party will fully participate in the forthcoming Local Government Council elections as announced by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC, provided the process is visibly transparent and insulated from government influence and or interference.”
He vowed that the party would not hesitate to go to court if the election failed to be transparent.
“The PDP shall not hesitate to challenge any observed infractions or acts capable of robbing the process of credibility and or fairness,” he warned.
Okorie announced that the sale of forms for chairmanship and councilorship positions would commence immediately.
He noted further that the sale of forms will expire on Thursday July 14, 2022.
“The timetable of party activities leading up to the election shall be published on various platforms. Members, especially aspirants are advised to monitor and comply as required,” he stated.
