The Interfaith Coalition Conference has reminded political leaders in the country that the Nigerians being slaughtered across the country by terrorists, especially in Benue and Zamfara States were the same people who voted them into power during the past elections.
Addressing the press in Abuja at the weekend, Daniel Kadzai, former, National President, Youth Wing of CAN (YOWICAN) and Co-Chairman of the Coalition, pleaded with the political leaders to restore peace in the country.
He said Nigerians should be able to move freely from one part of the country to another without being afraid of being killed or kidnapped by terrorists and bandits.
He also lamented that basic amenities such as electricity, well-equipped hospitals, good roads and quality education have eluded the citizens while the leaders and their families enjoy those facilities in foreign lands.
“We can’t continue this way let’s not pretend to ourselves. No hospitals, no roads, no schools. Our leaders understand this problem,” he said.
“They know we have problems. Review our security structure so that we can live peacefully in this country. Let’s have peace – people should be able to move from here to Kaduna freely at any hour of the day.
“The killings in Benue should stop. The killings in Zamfara should stop. These are Nigerians. In fact, some of them were out there during the election to vote in people that are in leadership positions in this country today and I think it’s a huge disservice for people in authority to leave them to their fate.”
