The Asiwaju Leragun of Egbaland, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has clinched the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge the party’s candidate in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Ogun State.
ALPHA NEWS NG learnt that Amuzu got 43 votes to defeat his rivals, Akin Sorunke and Akeem Amosun.
Speaking with our correspondent on Monday, Amuzu vowed to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections.
ALPHA NEWS NG gathered that the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency is currently being represented by Hon. Lanre Edun of the APC.
But, Amuzu boasted that he has all it takes “to unseat the APC by defeating any candidate the party puts forward for the poll.”
Speaking further, he promised to ensure effective legislation that would genuinely improve the lives of the people and enhance development of his constituents and the Nigerian society at large.
Amuzu maintained that the residents and indigenes of Abeokuta South were the real winners, noting that victory belongs to God and the people.
While extending his hands of fellowship to other contenders, Amuzu said he would be magnanimous enough to work with them, saying the exercise was simply a ‘no victor, no vanquished’ party affair.
As he acknowledged Sorunke’s openness and team spirit, the House of Representatives hopeful, thanked the party delegates for supporting and voting him, saying “I will not disappoint or betray the trust reposed in me.”
