Police intercept vehicle loaded with IEDs in Kano

Kano State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle loaded with sophisticated improvised-explosive devices (IEDs).

 

The state police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa said the vehicle was coming from Jigawa State when it was intercepted.

 

Kiyawa said Sama’ila Dikko, the Police Commissioner in the state deployed a “crack team comprising Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)– Chemical, Biological Radiological and Nuclear Defence (EOD-CBRN) and Operation Puff Adder” when an intelligence report was made to the command.

 

The statement added;

 

“Following a hot chase, the suspects abandoned the Motor Vehicle at Bubbugaje Quarters Kumbotso LGA Kano State.”

 

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered it was “fully loaded with improvised explosive device materials”.

 

Weapons including two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, 1,098 live ammunition and two pistol magazines were recovered.

 

Kiyawa said an investigation has been launched into the incident, adding that the suspects would be apprehended.
