An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti has ordered the remand of one Sanfullahi Nasiru (25) in the custody of the Nigerian Correction Service, Ado Ekiti for the offence of abduction and rape of a sixteen-year-old girl.
Magistrate Bankole Oluwasanmi who gave the order in his ruling said, the accused person will be taken into custody for a period of thirty days.
Moving the ex-parte application, Inspector Olubu Apata urged the court to remand the accused person for thirty days, to allow the Police complete their investigation and forward the duplicate case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Sanfullahi was reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl in Ado Ekiti and Zamfara State between August 2021 and January 2022, punishable under Section 361 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, VOL.1, Law of Ekiti State, 2012 and Section of Child Right Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
In her statement to the Police, the victim said, the accused person usually comes to their shop to buy things, he came to our shop on that day, I told him I had a headache, he brought a substance from his pocket and mixed it with a soft drink, he asked me to drink it, and I drank it.
Shortly, I developed love affection for him, unknown to my parents, he took me to Zamfara State where I stayed for a while, my mother came to pick me where I was kept in a village in Zamfara State but he refused to release me, it took the intervention of a law Court in Zamfara before I was released and warned him not to come near my house or disturb me anymore.
When he came back to Ado Ekiti, he came to our house again to threaten my mother, the matter was reported at the Police station and he was later arrested, she concluded.
The case has been adjourned till 23/05/2022 for mention.
