NDLEA has reacted to the death of 23-year-old British-born Nigerian law student, Damilola Olakanmi Damilola Olakanmi.
ALPHA NEWS NG learnt that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, reacted to Olakanmi’s death in a tweet via its official Twitter page.
The University of Hertfordshire business law undergraduate died last Saturday, a few days after consuming a suspected cannabis sweet in east London.
NDLEA echoed the statement made by UK Justice campaigner, Richard Taylor, on Damilola’s death.
“It’s a tragic warning to all young people about how they live their lives. They should resist drugs,” it tweeted.
The deceased, a 23-year-old business law student from Ilford, east London, reportedly bought the ‘gummies’ through a messaging app and they were delivered to her home where she fell ill last Tuesday.
The Hertfordshire University student was rushed to Queen’s Hospital, Romford, at around 11.30pm – but died on April 2.
Her 21-year-old friend – a US student visiting the UK – was also seen by medics but was discharged after treatment.
Ms Olakanmi’s mother, Wumi, 51, was by her bed side until she passed away on Saturday night.
Her friend Richard Taylor, 75, told the Standard, “Wumi has lost her only child – she has nothing now.
“They had to hold her up because she broke down every time a friend came to the house to give support.
“It’s a tragic warning to all young people about how they live their lives. They should resist drugs.
“Damilola was a promising young woman who should be looking forward to her future and having children of her own. She was studying law.’
