Student Athletes racing 200 Meters at the Maltina School Games State Finals in Jos International Stadium, Plateau State
In the spirit of ‘Building Champions and Sharing Happiness’, Maltina has completed the Plateau State Finals of Nigeria’s largest Secondary School Sports event, Maltina School Games at the Jos International Stadium, Plateau State on 18th March, 2022.
The event featured young athletes who were given the platform to showcase their athletic abilities and talents in a variety of track and field events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 800m races, long jump, high jump, and Javelin, as well as board games like chess and scrabble competitions.

Talented athletes arising from the event include Godwin Yenan from GSTC who clinched the gold and bronze medal in the Senior Boys’ Category 400m and 200m events respectively; Emmanuella Emmanuel who dazzled by securing two silver medals in the 100m and 200m finals for Senior Girls’ Category and joining her team to win a bronze in the 4x100m relay. The field events featured Desmond Daniel from Government College, Jos going for gold in the Long Jump Junior Boys’ Category while Anna Kichinme from Sunshine International led the junior girls in the High Jump event.
In his comments on the event, Portfolio Manager, Non-Alcoholic Drinks NB Plc, Omotunde Adenusi said, ” The mark we aim to leave with the Maltina School Games is to give Nigeria’s next generation of sport leaders and champions a significant boost by investing in their athletic abilities. The number of athletic sport champions that have arisen from Plateau state in the past editions is exciting. We can already see that they are ready to outdo themselves this year. We can’t wait to see them at the National finals.”

Dignitaries who graced the event include Mr. Chidi Egwu, Senior Trade Marketing Manager for Nigerian Breweries; Mr Dickson Monday, Vice President Nigeria School Sport Federation; Mrs Hannatu Dangtong, Director Quality Education at Plateau State Ministry of Education, and Mr Istifanus John, Permanent Secretary Plateau State Ministry of Education.
Fabulous prizes received by athletes at the track and field competition include a 500,000 naira cash prize as well as other prizes such as laptops, educational tablets and branded merchandise.
Presentation of gifts to winners at the Maltina School Games State Finals in Jos International Stadium, Plateau State
School teams that occupied top slots in the Plateau State finals will contend with other school teams across the Nation at the National finals holding in Abuja between 29th and 31st March 2022. The State finals were also held in participating states including Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kano and Kaduna. For the first time ever, winners of the Maltina School Games National finals will represent Nigeria at the World School Games in China later this year.
