Monarchs in Akoko land of Ondo State’s Northern Senatorial District have protested the rotational system of electing lawmakers in Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Local Government Areas that make up the federal constituency.
The monarchs numbering 28 said the rotational method that the two local governments had been using had not resulted in any beneficial development in the council areas.
Rising from their meeting held at the palace of Olukare in Ikare- Akoko, Oba Akadri Momoh, the monarchs said the rotation arrangement in the federal constituency ahead of the 2023 general election has been abolished.
A communique issued and signed by all the 28 monarchs noted that the issue of rotation has been finally laid to rest in the two local governments which make up Akoko North federal constituency.
